This text has a unique focus on all aspects of medical-surgical nursing, beginning with a section that focuses on ethics, diversity, and communication before moving on to a comprehensive study of the medical/surgical aspects of client care. Students are challenged to think critically beginning with chapter one and continuing throughout the text as they work through client care problems. Medical-surgical concepts are presented in a body systems approach, using the nursing process to cement essential knowledge and enhance clinical application. Each chapter includes a case study designed to challenge the student to think critically about a disorder and systematically develop a related nursing care plan. This increases the student's understanding of the disorder and improves critical thinking for clinical application.
